My New Perspective

Surprisingly, I feel like blogging today.
Mainly just to tell you that I want to blog more. I am going to commit to posting something here every day until the Ides of March. EVERYDAY!? Well maybe 5 days a week. Either way, my intention is to plug back into to the blogging world. I cant guarantee that anything will be grand. It might even be as small as a “Hi Ya’ll. Today is too busy to stay and chat. Here’s a picture to look at.” Or… “This is a quote that is resonating with me today. Read it! Oh, and here’s a picture to look at.” I am going to use my blog like I would instagram for a while and try to engage myself in a different way. Hopefully it will help me be more productive by getting me in front of my computer everyday with a purpose. I also hope to get better at it because right now Im pretty terrible at blogging. Keep me honest will ya? Feel free to comment and post as I go along. God knows I need the encouragement. We all do, right?

So here is the first picture in a sea of pictures to come.

Andrea and Eric: Part Two

The long awaited part two of Andrea and Eric’s beautiful destination wedding has finally made its way onto my blog.
Part one can be seen here in case you have forgotten.
It has been a while…
Let me start by first saying, I POSTED A TON OF PHOTOS!
I figured if it was 6 months in the making then I had better make it worthwhile.
I still have one more part to share with you but for now please enjoy this visual story I have prepared for you.
Bride and groom portraits to start us off followed by the signing of the Ketubah and finally the wedding ceremony under the chuppah.
Can I just restate again how much I love jewish weddings?
The traditions are so beautiful.
No more words. Time for pictures!

Ashley - These are beautiful! Her dress is amazing!

If I tried my very hardest I could never even begin to express how amazing my friend Janita is. She and I are like bread and butter! Pumpkin and curry. Coffee and cream as long as I’m the coffee and she’s the cream 😉 I knew I was going to have to return the beloved Contax to its rightful owner but before I did, I wanted to shoot my dear friend and her gooooorgeous daughters. Aren’t they just the most beautiful trio?

I was a little frazzled because last minute because I couldn’t find my light meter. I had an extra one that isnt mine. I dont know how to use it and I brought it along with me just in case but the truth is I guessed on a lot of these exposures. In my opinion they are not as over exposed as they could have been. That being said, I love the look of this beautiful Fugi 400H film. It handles the darks and lights really well. I love the depth in the black tones and the sky on the last pic is pretty much epic. Love that! I also love how the last frame on the roll left a little sparkly surprise behind. It might be my favorite pic in the mix. To top things off the light on this evening was divine. You can never go wrong with great lighting!

I did a few edits to these scans but it was mainly just adjusting my exposure to brighten them up a bit. Other than that, I resized them and posted. Not so bad. It helped that I like pretty much every image from our roll. Hard to get a bad picture of three exotic beauties who share the kind of bond that these three do. Enjoy!

The Art of Dreaming

“Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight,
and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
― Oscar Wilde

I have been in the midst of a lot of self exploration lately. It is both hugely rewarding and somewhat disappointing. I have discovered things about myself that I am fond of. I have discovered things about myself that I really wish weren’t true about me. Sometimes I feel like I am fighting a battle inside of myself that will never be won. In order to deal with that, I have to just learn to accept myself as I am. I cant change who I am.
Truthfully speaking, I wouldn’t want to even if I could.

One night I was up late. (Which never happens because I am an in bed by 10:30 kind of gal) I felt like I needed to work. (Also a rarity these days)
I didn’t have a shoot planned. It was midnight. So I stayed up late and did a self portrait session that went into the wee hours of the morning.
I used the Contax, my beloved Spectra, and a bunch of random ideas swimming in my head.
It is what it is and I accept that.

Slowing the shutter with film and double exposing polaroids are two of my favorite things. I certainly cant help that!
